What is a Trad Refresher Course?
A one-day intensive course designed for experienced trad climbers who want to brush up on their skills after a break from climbing. Whether you’ve been away from trad climbing for a while or just want to ensure your systems are current and safe, this course will help you regain confidence and update your techniques.
What will we cover?
- Review and update of gear placement techniques
- Modern anchor building practices
- Current safety standards and best practices
- Personal systems check and optimization
- Tactical considerations for route selection and protection
Prerequisites
- Previous trad climbing experience
- Lead climbing competency
- Basic knowledge of trad gear and systems
Location
This course is held at an outdoor location on real trad climbing routes. The area we climb at and the grade of the routes will be tailored to your current skill level and objectives.
Duration
6 hours of focused instruction and practice.
What do we need to own/bring?
- Harness suitable for lead climbing
- Helmet (can be provided if needed)
- Any trad gear you own and want to practice with
- Comfortable clothing suitable for climbing
- Water and snacks for the day
All essential climbing safety equipment can be provided by The Climbing Company, though using your own gear is encouraged for familiarity.
