This is skiing on your own terms.
No shared groups, no waiting around, no compromises. Just you, your guide, and a full day on the slopes.
◆ beyond the resort
The resort was just the starting point
You can ski at a resort, but you’re looking beyond it now. A private guide takes you into Victoria’s backcountry terrain where you’ll find untracked snow, real alpine runs and lines you won’t find on the trail map.
◆ Explore New Terrain
Victoria has more to offer than most people ever see.
Whether you’re visiting for the first time or want to explore areas you’ve never skied before, your guide knows the terrain, the conditions, and exactly where to take you.
Just finished the level 2 alpine course. Again, excellent instruction and knowledge concerning glacier travel, long toping, short-roping,, and crevasse rescue. Thanks Hamid and Lachlan
Hamid was our instructor for both courses and he had an incredible in his teaching style – the right amount of information and theory mixed in with practical application and loads of fun. I had no knowledge about how to climb in Alpine environments prior to these courses. These courses have provided me with essential skills and knowledge to feel more confident going to Mera Peak.
A big thank you to Hamid and The Climbing Company for offering such a great course so close to Melbourne! Would highly recommend.

Backcountry skiing requires your own touring kit: backcountry skis or splitboard, touring boots, skins, poles, and an avalanche safety kit including beacon, shovel, and probe. We can help with hiring recommendations.
For snowshoe hiking, snowshoes and poles are available to hire locally. We’ll send you a full gear list on booking.
Backcountry skiing is for adults only.
If you’d like to bring younger family members along, cross-country skiing would be a much safer starting point. Get in touch and we’ll put together the right program for your group.
Absolutely. Private snowshoe guiding is available at the same rate and follows the same format: your guide, your group, your pace. Just let us know when you enquire and we’ll sort the details from there.
No. A Snow Season Pass is for the ski resort and not required for our tours.
You will need a daily Alpine Resort car park pass to access the area, which is around $60 per vehicle. Most people joining our tours like to carpool to split the cost, we’ll share all the details when you book.
Transport and accommodation are your responsibility. We’re happy to share recommendations for nearby towns and accommodation options. We’ll confirm the exact meeting point and timing once you’re booked in.
Your guide makes all safety calls on the mountain. If conditions aren’t suitable for the planned terrain your guide will adjust the route accordingly. Safety always comes before the objective.
Private guiding is focused on exploration and getting the most out of the terrain. If you’re looking to build structured backcountry skills – avalanche awareness, navigation, snow safety – our snow skills courses are a better fit. Head over to the Snow Skills page to see what’s available this season.
