What is Group Guiding?

Our group guiding sessions are perfect for climbers wanting to experience outdoor rock climbing in a social setting. Whether you’re transitioning from indoor climbing, looking to meet climbing partners, or just want a fun day out, our experienced guides will ensure everyone has a great time while maintaining high safety standards.

I have never climbed before. Is this activity suitable for me?

Yes it is! We can tailor the experience to your abilities no matter your fitness or ability level.

Will we also do abseiling on this trip?

Yes as long as we have enough guides to monitor the top-roping activity as well as conduct the Abseil activity. We will make that call on the day or you can ask us to make special arrangements.

What do we need to own/bring?

  • All climbing safety equipment is supplied by The Climbing Company, however if you own any of the following equipment please bring it along with you – learning with your own equipment is far better and will provide a great start to your outdoor climbing experience!
  • Helmet *
  • Harness
  • Locking biner(s)
  • Belay device
  • Rock Shoes
    * Helmets are worn on all outdoor Climbing Company/Melbourne Climbing School courses – but as with all of the other climbing safety equipment, we have these if you don’t own one.
    Non-climbing equipment: You will need to bring suitable clothing and footwear for light hiking, and your own lunch and water for the day (and a camera!).

This was one of the best companies to do my first outdoor rock climbing session in, the instructor was extremely nice, caring and knowledgeable and always pushed us on to complete the wall. This was especially memorable for me as I personally asked the instructor if I could have some hard walls to do and he was complete fine with it and happily set some up for me. I researched for hours what the best outdoor rock climbing session would be and what I found was this company, the price is both great and the experience and quailiy is even better.
JUST TRY IT, its literally for an experience level.

We had a day in Mount Macedon with Karl as our guide, family of six, with kids 13-18. We had a fantastic day. Karl was knowledgeable and enthusiastic, read the room well on when to intervene and push, and when to hold back, and made us all feel like we had achieved something significant over the day. Great day. Highly recommend.
